Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams never had the perfect preseason. The rookie has been struggling, and many have questioned his potential. Fans feel that he would not fit in well as they head into a new season.

The Bears showed promise in their preseason games, but it’s the regular season that matters. Williams will split time with Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum, and head coach Ben Johnson is not doubting Caleb Williams’ potential. Johnson recently admitted that he’s not ready to put a cap on Williams since he has the ability to perform well.
“I don’t want to even put a cap on it because he’s got the ability. He’s got rare ability to throw the football, and I feel strongly about that; his decision-making is coming along. He’s taken the coaching, myself, JT Barrett, Declan Doyle, all these guys that we have in the quarterback room, he’s taking that and he’s working to apply it,” Ben Johnson said.

Johnson further mentioned that his performance is not going to hit the ceiling. However, he’s getting better every day.
“Now, is it coming so fast that we feel like he’s going to be at his ceiling this year? No, absolutely not. But he’s getting better every single day,” Johnson continued.
Ben Johnson Talks About Caleb Williams’ Body Language
Despite being the first pick in the 2024 NFL draft, Caleb Williams has been a disappointment. Along with all the struggles, the quarterback’s body language didn’t go well. Johnson has a lot of pressure on him as he enters this season with the Bears. The franchise looks forward to the head coach molding Williams, and Johnson certainly wants to improve his body language.

“It’s like, do we really want to … is this what we want to look like or not? We come to an agreement, no it’s not. OK, we learn from it, we move on to the next thing. We don’t want to be a ‘palms-up team’ where we’re questioning everything. No, no, no; to me that’s a little bit of a sign of weakness. We don’t want to [see] that from anybody on the team,” Ben Johnson said.
It’s a crucial year for Caleb Williams and he must prove himself to do a better as they enter the new season. Fans are waiting for Williams to prove his worth to the team.
