Despite a shaky start from quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who threw an early interception and lost a fumble, he recovered to throw three touchdown passes and complete 30 of 41 attempts for 340 yards. This victory marked Colorado’s fourth consecutive win, improving their record to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference.
Sanders connected twice with Will Sheppard for touchdowns, showcasing a strong offensive strategy as the Buffaloes pulled away in the second half. LaJohntay Wester also made a significant impact, returning a punt 76 yards for a touchdown, further extending Colorado’s lead. The team’s defense, while occasionally vulnerable, made crucial plays, including an interception by D.J. McKinney that halted a late rally from the Utes.
Travis Hunter, a standout player and Heisman hopeful, shone on both offense and defense. He recorded a spectacular 28-yard catch on a critical fourth down and added a touchdown late in the game. Utah struggled throughout the game, limited to three field goals and unable to find their rhythm until late in the second half. With a record of 4-6, the Utes face challenges as they aim to maintain their streak of ten consecutive winning seasons.
