The Buffalo Bills traded for Nyheim Hines last year in the middle of the season. The shifty pass-catching back was looking to take some pressure off of Josh Allen in the run game. The team was excited to have Hines for an entire season but his 2023 looks to be over before it begins. According to NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Hines suffered a knee injury that will cause him to miss the entire 2023 season.
Buffalo Bills Nyheim Hines To Miss 2023 Season
This was not an injury that was suffered on the field. It was a freak accident offsite. It has been reported that Hines was sitting stationary on a jet ski when he was struck by another rider. The injury is non-life threatening but will require surgery. It is an unlucky break for Hines and the Bills as they were hoping that he could complement a backfield with James Cook, Damien Harris, and Latavius Murray. Now the team must move forward without him.
How Much Does This Affect The Team?
It isn’t ideal but the Bills will likely be fine from this loss. They have a trio of talented backs and could easily sign one as the offseason moves on. The Bills are a team that is not known for using their running backs a lot. Allen makes his presence known in the run game but the team is looking to take some pressure off of the star quarterback. For Hines, it is great to hear the injuries are non-life threatening. This could have been a bad situation as boating accidents are no joke.
The situation is not good for either the Buffalo Bills or Nyheim Hines. Hopefully Hines makes a quick recovery and can continue is NFL career after surgery.
