The Buffalo Bills understood the assignment during the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sticking with their core philosophies and identifying critical needs along a defense that allowed 32 points in an AFC Championship Game loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, general manager Brandon Beane and the Bills added immediate starters and quality depth at positions that could prove to be difference-makers in 2025.
According to one NFC coach, the Bills were the team across the league who nailed the draft, by sticking closely to their long-term vision for how to build a championship roster.
“Buffalo went all in on defense,” an NFC coach told me recently, when asked which team drafted with their long-term vision in mind. “They got a great cornerback, and two tough [Expletive]s on the defensive line.”

Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston, defensive tackle T.J. Sanders, and Deone Walker all have the potential to start immediately for the Bills, or at minimum contribute quality snaps while edge rusher Landon Jackson could push for starting-caliber snaps across from newcomer Joey Bosa.
Buffalo came two victories shy of winning the Super Bowl, again, and seemed to operate throughout the draft is they were trying to separate themselves from the rest of the AFC and close the gap on Kansas City in their quest for a Lombardi.
