Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen Draws Honest Assessment From Division Rival: ‘Reminds me of Cam Newton’

The Buffalo Bills have won the AFC East for five seasons in a row, and many expect them to rule the division again in the 2025 NFL campaign. For one, the Bills have the best quarterback in the league – and the best player overall – in Josh Allen by virtue of his winning the 2024 NFL Most Valuable Player award.

Buffalo has a target on its back, particularly from its rivals in the division, including the New England Patriots, who just loaded up on defense this offseason by acquiring Super Bowl champion defensive end  Milton Williams, signing the former Philadelphia Eagles disruptor to a four-year, $104 million contract last March.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen runs with the ball and gains over five yards before being brought down by Kansas City Chiefs Chris Jones during the first half.

Williams is looking forward to finally facing Allen, whom he has yet to go up against in the NFL. Interestingly enough, Williams’ only missed game in the league thus far was a game against the Bills.

“I ended up missing that game against Josh Allen,” Williams said on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast (h/t Bobby Kownack of NFL.com). “So, I haven’t got to play him yet. Since I got here just talking with (Christian) Barmore, he was like, ‘Yeah, Josh Allen is probably the hardest quarterback I’ve had to bring down.’ Just big, fast, he kind of reminds me of Cam Newton. I compare him to Cam Newton, just being that big, being that mobile, having such a big arm, make any throw. It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m up for it. I’m up for it for sure.”

The Bills and the Patriots split their matchup in the 2024 NFL regular season.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen has the ball stripped by Texans linebacker Whitney Mercilus. The turnover led to a Houston field goal in a 22-19 Texans overtime win to knock the Bills out of the playoffs.
