The Cleveland Browns hold the No.2 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and after this past season’s quarterback struggles, they may take one with their first pick.
Cleveland’s starting quarterback, Deshaun Watson, tore his Achilles in Week 7, ending his season. He then reinjured it a few weeks ago, almost ending his 2025 campaign before it even started.
The Browns cannot return to Watson in 2026, and they need a new quarterback in this year’s draft. Whether the player will be selected with the second pick or later, a signal-caller must be drafted.
Two quarterbacks are rumored to be drafted inside the Top 5: Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.
Right now, it feels like Ward will be taken No.1 overall by the Tennessee Titans, and then the Browns will have their option to take Sanders.
Cleveland Browns Don’t Take A QB
ESPN’s draft analyst Mel Kiper published his first mock draft on Wednesday. Cleveland is passing on a quarterback and taking cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter from Colorado.
Hunter is the best overall prospect in this year’s class, and the Browns will be getting a star, but passing on a quarterback is a big deal, and one local radio host isn’t happy.
ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Rizzo was frustrated with the mock draft and stated, ” I need a quarterback.”

It’s safe to say that with the No. 2 pick, Rizzo wants a quarterback, not Hunter. It will be interesting to see where the Browns go during draft season.
