The Cleveland Browns hold the No.2 pick in this year’s NFL Draft after a horrible 2024 season where they only reached the win column three times.
One of the main reasons the Browns were so bad was their terrible quarterback play, and Deshaun Watson was a significant factor in that.
The 29-year-old quarterback only saw seven games before a season-ending torn Achilles, but Cleveland only won once when he was on the field.
Cleveland played musical chairs at quarterback the rest of the way, starting Jameis Winston, Bailey Zappe, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Now, they will look to take their new franchise signal caller in this year’s draft.
Two quarterbacks at the top of the draft are Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.
The Browns could bring one of them to Cleveland if they choose to. Head coach Kevin Stefanski is at the Senior Bowl this week and thinks his system can produce many winners.

“We believe in our system,” Stefanski said in a Sirius XM NFL Radio video. “When you win three games, you didn’t do much very well; we are looking at everything, and certainly, the quarterback position is important when it comes to winning and losing. We have different guys that we have won with, so we believe in our system.”

While many believe that Sanders fits more of a Stefanski-style offense, sitting back and playing from the pocket than Ward, who likes to make plays outside of it, there is still a chance Cleveland could take the Miami quarterback and work the system around him.
It will be interesting to see what the Browns want to do with their first-round selection, and maybe they won’t even target quarterback until the later rounds.
