Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers quarterback, might have some tension in the locker room with Mac Jones having signed a two-year deal with the team last month. Two quarterbacks with different motives and goals in the same team might shake up the dynamics in the squad as per NFL analyst Mike Florio.
While Purdy is definitely the star in the San Francisco 49ers team, it looks like Jones is coming to the team to try and redeem his name after struggling on the field in the last couple of seasons, according to Florio.
“Mac Jones is not going in there to be Brock Purdy’s caddy. He’s going in there to show everyone that he can be better than Brock Purdy, and I just think that it creates an awkward dynamic, potentially.” Mike Florio said about Brock Purdy and Mac Jones on ‘Pro Football Talk’ on Friday.

Brock Purdy has been playing for the San Francisco 49ers since 2022 after being selected as the 262nd pick in the seventh round of the NFL draft. Despite being the last pick in the draft, Purdy has quickly climbed up the ladders to establish success as a pretty impressive quarterback. In the 2024 NFL season, the quarterback managed a total of 3,864 passing yards, scoring 20 touchdowns along with 12 interceptions for the team.
Meanwhile, Mac Jones showed plenty of promise as he entered the league with the New England Patriots as the 15th pick in the very first round of the 2021 NFL draft. However, his performance soon slumped and he eventually lost his starting position. In the previous season, Jones threw for only 1,672 yards, scoring eight touchdowns for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Brock Purdy Might Get $ 300-Million Deal From San Francisco 49ers
On another note, Brock Purdy is being rumored to get a juicy $300-million deal from the San Francisco 49ers according to football analyst Craig Carton. Purdy is seeking a contract extension after joining the team back in 2022. However, the team has not exactly put out a number of as yet.

Still, the San Francisco 49ers will surely cater to any demands that Purdy might have. After being labeled ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ in the NFL draft, Brock Purdy has managed to shut up haters for good, after his remarkable performances for San Francisco. Until now in his career, Brock Purdy has thrown for a total of 9,518 yards with a 67.5 pass completion percentage.
