The Chicago Bears made one decision at quarterback on Wednesday. The Bears’ quarterback situation has been the talk of the NFL this offseason. The Bears will have to decide if they want to draft a quarterback, likely Caleb Williams, with the No. 1 pick in the draft, or if they will stick with Justin Fields.

The Chicago Bears are keeping their cards close on Justin Fields

The Bears have not made their plans known to the public regarding Fields as complications persist for the front office. General manager Ryan Poles said at the NFL Combine that if the Bears were taking a quarterback in the draft he wanted to “do right” by Fields and trade him before free agency.

However, Fields’ draft value tanked during the week of the NFL Combine. The Bears also have yet to receive Williams’ medicals. The Bears will meet with Williams at Halas Hall following USC’s pro day next week.

    The Bears signed Brett Rypien

With quarterback drama on the topic of Bears Twitter, the team announced one decision for the position on Wednesday afternoon. Per a statement, the Bears are signing Brett Rypien to a one-year deal with Chicago.

We have agreed to terms with Brett Rypien on a one-year contract.

    Welcome to 312, @brettryp!

Rypien is familiar with Bears OC Shane Waldron

Rypien is familiar with new Bears offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. He spent time with Waldron while he was with the Seattle Seahawks last season.

Rypien spent his first three seasons with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent. He spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, New York Jets, and Seahawks last season.

In his five-year career, Rypien has thrown for 950 yards, four touchdowns, and nine interceptions. During OTAs this spring, he will make an excellent camp arm for the Bears.

With whoever will be at QB1 on the Bear’s depth chart.

They will keep Fields… they’re going to go get MHJ… with a better offensive line that engages QUICK with the defense will give J. Fields a cleaner look at the defense that’s what he needs to be more effective the young man is destined to be great his time is coming. Good coaches will figure this out. If he goes somewhere else and balls out that will be a dagger to the Chicago Bears organization…

They should keep Fields and use the first pick for Harrison Jr. It would help better than the QB drama

If the rest of the league feels he’s only a back -up QB…why not be our back- up and insurance QB and draft MHJ …

This is a waste of money. Isn’t there a better (second or) third stringer than the one who came with the OC?

Gawd, I wanted the Bears to keep Fields, but now I hope that he gets out of town as fast as he can.

I DO know how to spell “dysfunctional”: Bears front office.

every since I saw feels come back from a brutal hit in a bowl game at Ohio State and lead his team to victory; he has been my guy!!! No one – and I mean NO ONE !!! was happier than me when they took him the draft. Taking into account the situations and obstacles he has encountered since coming here; and, seeing him steadily, improve with a great work ethic; and a great character, which endears him to all in the franchise… I say, just give him the right offense around him and he’s not gonna take his foot off the gas until February!!!!

I think drafting Caleb (spoiled bratty) Williams would be a huge mistake. Is anyone watching all the s*** this guy is pulling. To good to partake in the combine. Won’t do his due visits to potential draft teams. Won’t turn over his med forms. This guy is going to be huge trouble after his draft year. Is anyone sure they want or HAVE to deal with this prima Donna?
