The Boise State Broncos have been one of the best stories in college football this season because of running back Ashton Jeanty. Jeanty is the leader right now to win the Heisman Trophy this season. A running back has not won the award since the 2015 season when Derrick Henry of the Alabama Crimson Tide won the award.

This season, Jeanty has rushed for 1,248 yards on 126 carries and 17 touchdowns, along with averaging 9.9 yards per carry this season. These are ridiculous numbers for a running back. There is a chance that he could very well run away with the Heisman Trophy.
Boise State Broncos Running Back Ashton Jeanty Responds To Colorado Buffaloes Wide Receiver Travis Hunter’s Comments About the Heisman Trophy

Travis Hunter made some comments about the current Heisman Trophy race. This season, Hunter is playing wide receiver and defensive back for Colorado. He has caught 51 passes for 604 yards receiving and six touchdowns, along with averaging 11.8 yards per catch.
Those are good numbers for a wide receiver, but what Jeanty has been doing has been more impressive. Jeanty responded to Hunter’s comments by saying to the media:
“Kudos to Travis, he’s balling for real. He’s doing some stuff we ain’t ever seen nobody do. Personally, I don’t take no offense to it. He’s just speaking his opinion, everybody’s got an opinion. For me, what I’ve been doing hasn’t been done in 36, 37 years, so that’s something special. If I keep that up and break a record that’s been around for 36 years, I feel like you can’t really compete with that.”
Ashton Jeanty is showing respect here to Travis Hunter. However, this Heisman Trophy race is going to be very interesting until the end of the college football season.

It’s great to see him acknowledge Hunter’s talent while confidently recognizing his own achievements. Breaking a record that’s stood for over three decades is an incredible feat, and it’s clear he’s focused on his own goals rather than getting caught up in the Heisman hype…

It will be interesting to see where Ashton Jeanty lands in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, more importantly, it will be interesting to see if Jeanty beats Hunter in the Heisman Trophy campaign this season.
