Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills were able to pull off a massive upset victory over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14 action at Arrowhead Stadium. It was a massive win for the Bills to get their foot back in the door when it comes to playoff contention. For Mahomes, it was yet another loss that the Chiefs have to try to rebound from.
After the game, there were many emotions about a huge offensive offsides call against Chiefs’ wide receiver Ka’Darius Toney. It was the right call, but Mahomes was extremely angry. During his post-game handshake with Allen, Mahomes was only worried about how awful the call was, even though it wasn’t.
Mahomes has since apologized for his actions with Allen after the game. He even back-tracked his stance on the call itself a bit.
Bills QB Josh Allen Speaks Out On Patrick Mahomes’ Outburst
While all fans love drama between players, this isn’t one of those situations. Allen recently spoke out about the incident and was very understanding about where Mahomes was coming from in that moment.
“Yeah, he reached out to me and I was just like, it’s football. It’s a game of emotion,” Allen said. “I know he didn’t mean anything by it, and I know the cameras kind of caught the last few seconds of what we were talking about, but he’s an ultimate competitor. He wants to win and that’s why he is who he is.”
Clearly, there is a lot of respect between Mahomes and Allen. They are two of the best young quarterbacks in the game right now. Both of them are extreme competitors and are never happy when they lose.
Looking ahead at the rest of the regular season in the AFC, both of these teams have a lot to play for. The Bills are in need of putting a string of wins together to close out the season. If they want to get into the playoffs, they are going to need to play some nearly perfect football.
As for the Chiefs, they have lost two straight games in disappointing fashion and the frustration is clear. Two weeks ago, they fell at Lambeau Field to the Green Bay Packers. Kansas City needs to get back in the win column.
It will be interesting to see where both of these teams end up at the end of the year. For now, all fans simply had to enjoy the show that they put on in Week 14. Allen and the Bills certainly get a good mark for winning with grace in this situation.
