Bill Belichick, the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels, has about as great a resume as there can be among the all-time greats. The long-time coach of the New England Patriots won six Super Bowl titles, more than any head coach in NFL history. However, when the Patriots decided that they wanted to move on from the legendary coach, there were no NFL teams really interested in his services.
And so, after taking a year off, Belichick decided to join the college ranks for the first time, taking the job at North Carolina. But when the hire of the former New England stalwart also came Jordon Hudson, the 73-year-old’s young girlfriend, who is also the head of Belichick Media.
And it has not gone smoothly for the university or football program.
Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson Are the Center of a Controversy
When news first broke that Belichick and Hudson were dating, there were many comments (and jokes) made about the 49-year age gap between them. But in recent weeks, the couple has been making headlines for more serious, but less fortunate, reasons.
One has to imagine that North Carolina did not realize that hiring Belichick would have meant that his young girlfriend would be so involved in his career. The coach’s instruction that any and all emails sent to him must also be forwarded to her, despite the fact that she is not an employee of the university, soon proved that she was.
And when CBS scheduled an interview with Belichick to promote his book, they surely believed that they would be talking to him, and just him. Oh how wrong they were. The airing of the interview included a byte of Hudson instructing Belichick to not answer a question regarding how they met, which the network states was not the only time she interupted.
CBS canceled their second interview with him.
The reports that have followed this disastrous exchange are not flattering and paint both Belichick and Hudson in negative lights. That being said, amid rumors that North Carolina has banned her from their football facilities (she has not actually been banned), the 24-year-old Hudson has decided to cut ties with one of her other commitments so that she can focus more on Belichick and his pursuits.
Jordon Hudson Has Quit Her Cheerleading Team
According to a report by Page Six, Hudson has quit the cheerleading team she had been a part of. To announce her departure, she wrote a letter to her [now former] teammates in which she thanked them for putting up with the “baggage” she brought and that she feels like she has lost a sense of her identity since she started dating Belichick:
“Hudson issued an apology to her teammates while thanking them for ‘tolerating … baggage’ from her headline-making romance.
“She acknowledged that her fellow cheerleaders didn’t ‘ask for … interlopers at practice, the subsequent media exploitation [and] the lack of dependability.’
“The pageant competitor continued, ‘I can’t thank you enough for the sense of grounding you have provided for me during a difficult period in my life.
“’During this time, I have faced a slow, exterior erasure of my strong, individual identity,’ Hudson added, noting that thanks to her team ’embracing’ her, she was able to remain ‘intact.’”
As the University noted in its statement, Hudson is welcome at their facilities and will be the point person for all of Belichick’s media opportunities outside of their football program. She is not, they emphasized, one of their employees, though.
Running Belichick Media certainly sounds like a demanding job.
