The Baltimore Ravens have had a 2023 NFL season to remember. Entering Week 17, they had a 12-3 record with a chance to claim the top seed in the AFC if they defeated the Miami Dolphins. Well, the Ravens did that and more.
Baltimore Ravens Defeated Miami Dolphins 56-19
The Ravens not only won this game, but they also flat out dominated. This game was never really that close. Baltimore led Miami 28-13 at halftime. They extended this lead to 35-13 by the end of the third quarter.
However, the Ravens kept their foot on the gas pedal and made a statement. Despite having a comfortable lead, Baltimore felt the need to pad on 21 additional points in the fourth quarter. As a result, Miami had no answer, and the final score was a whopping 56-19.
Baltimore Ravens Are Now Top Seed in AFC
Because of this win, the Baltimore Ravens have now clinched the #1 seed in the AFC. They have a 13-3 record, which is two games better than any other team in the AFC. As a result, the Ravens now have the option to rest their starters in Week 18 on top of having the only bye in the AFC.
Playoff Implications
So, what else did this win mean? For one thing, the Cleveland Browns are now locked into the fifth seed in the AFC. On top of this, the Miami Dolphins could potentially lose their grasp on the AFC East. They battle the Buffalo Bills in Week 18. The winner of that game also clinches their division.
