Baltimore Ravens Make Pro-Bowl Move At Running Back After Season-Long Injury (Breaking)

The Baltimore Ravens handed the Houston Texans a very convincing defeat on Sunday.  The ground game powered the Ravens to a 25-9 win.  That ground game featured Lamar Jackson (38 yards), Gus Edwards (32 yards), JK Dobbins (22 yards, 1 touchdown), and Justice Hall (9 yards, 2 touchdowns).  A running back by committee, if you will.

However, the Ravens announced some somber news after the game.  Fourth-year running back JK Dobbins tore his Achilles and will miss the rest of the 2023 season.  The team has already made plans to fill Dobbins’ shoes.

The Baltimore Ravens Will Activate Former Pro-Bowl Running Back Melvin Gordon

As a result of Dobbins tearing his Achilles against the Houston Texans in Week 1, CBS Sports NFL Insider Josina Anderson reports that the Ravens will activate running back Melvin Gordon.

As soon as Gordon was released on Tuesday, Aug. 29, he returned to the Ravens’ practice squad after turning down three other teams, including the Miami Dolphins. The decision to retain Gordon proved beneficial as the Ravens now have an unexpected gap in at the running back position.

2017 was certainly Gordon’s best year in the NFL.  He rushed for 1,105 yards and 8 touchdowns that year.  2020 (986 yards and 9 touchdowns) and 2021 (918 yards and 8 touchdowns) were also very productive years for the veteran running back.  It will be interesting to see how much the Ravens use him going forward.
