It’s fair to say that this past NFL weekend’s games involving NFC North teams led many to question their preconceived notions about each of the 4 franchises. First, on Thanksgiving, the Packers upset division-leading Detroit 29-22. Then, this past Monday night, the underdog Bears defeated Minnesota in a slugfest 12-10. I’m not ready to make a mea culpa just yet, given some of my past articles, but I do have to ponder whether I was wrong about the direction that some of these teams are going in. NFC North: Turkey Day leads to a Packers resurrection? The red-hot Detroit Lions…

One of the achievements that the Green Bay Packers have been able to accomplish this season was being able to beat both teams from Los Angeles, as the Packers defeated the Rams in Week 9 as well as the Chargers in Week 11. But, without a doubt, the marquee matchup this past week was the Super Bowl rematch between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, with the Eagles prevailing 21-17. I wanted to reflect on how the Packers can learn from these two powerhouse franchises. Super Bowl 57….and 58? Coming into this past Monday’s game, the two teams…

After coming off a win against the faltering Los Angeles Rams, one might think that the Green Bay Packers may have been about to turn the corner on their disappointing season. Those predictions would be sorely mistaken, as the team fell 23-19 to the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday to fall to 3-6 on the year. Moreover, it may very well lead to curtains for both quarterback Jordan Love and head coach Matt LaFleur. Green Bay Packers: Going to the mat for…Matt? I mentioned in my last article about how both Love and LaFleur were starting to come under heavy…

It’s hard to believe that going into Week 4’s Thursday night football game, the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions seemed to be on similar footing. Both were 2-1, and both had overcome close Week 2 losses and had won in Week 3. But since September 28th’s 34-20 drubbing by Detroit, the franchises now seem to be going in completely opposite directions. The Packers have lost 4 straight, while the Lions have won 4 out of their past 5. But it’s worth noting this didn’t happen overnight; it could’ve been years in the making. Detroit Lions: Rebuild mode Ever since…

The Green Bay Packers continued their slide this past Sunday with a 19-17 loss to the Denver Broncos. After 7 weeks, both Green Bay and Denver have only registered 2 wins each. With both teams showing their glaring vulnerabilities, one might be left to question whether the scapegoating done by both teams’ fanbases at the end of last season was, in fact, misguided. Also, the people who may be grinning ear-to-ear the most might be Aaron Rodgers and Nathaniel Hackett. Green Bay Packers: What’s Love got to do with it? Aaron Rodgers ended his 18-season run at Green Bay in…

Fox Sports TV pundit Colin Cowherd is not known to shy away from sharing his opinions, no matter how polarizing and even provocative they might be. So it was not really a huge surprise when he stated this past Tuesday that Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love was a “backup.” This was in the aftermath of Green Bay’s 17-13 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night. But given the praise he had previously given Love, it did strike a chord with the Packers nation that one of the leading sports commentators in America had already jumped off…

Fans of the Green Bay Packers may be feeling down in the dumps in recent days, but there is one reason why they may still be able to keep their heads up when it comes it to their team still having a shot at making the NFL playoffs. Of all the 32 teams in the NFL entering Week 5, the Packers have the easiest remaining schedule for the next 13 games in the entire league. That could set them up well to make the playoffs in the NFC as a wild card, or even a division winner. Green Bay Packers:…

Week 4 in the NFL began with the Detroit Lions defeating the Green Bay Packers 34-20, as the Lions took over the NFC North lead. Detroit dominated in the first half thanks to a suffocating defensive performance, and Green Bay’s late comeback attempt eventually faltered. Though it’s early in the season, the fears by Packers fans of a changing-of-the-guard in the NFC North in the post-Aaron Rodgers era may soon become reality if Thursday Night’s game was any indication. Green Bay was hoping to exact revenge after the Detroit Lions came into Lambeau Field and eliminated their division rival from the…
