The Auburn Tigers aim for a better outcome in 2025, hoping to end their four consecutive losing seasons and avoid tying their longest stretch of losing seasons, dating back from 1946 to 1950. For the Tigers to make it to a bowl game, have a winning season, and potentially save Hugh Freeze’s job, the offense needs to play lights out. Although the team has two up-and-coming star wide receivers, Cam Coleman and Malcolm Simmons, the offense could use a reliable veteran replacement for KeAndre Lambert-Smith, their leading receiver, who departed to the next level.
The good news is they landed arguably the best receiver in the portal.
Auburn Tigers landed the top receiver in the winter portal

The Auburn Tigers landed former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets standout Eric Singleton Jr. from the winter transfer portal for the 2025 season with two years of eligibility remaining. Singleton had a solid two-year stint at Georgia Tech, hauling in 104 receptions for 1,468 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 24 games, along with 140 rushing yards on 22 carries and one touchdown. He led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns in both seasons.
Eric Singleton Jr. had a solid sophomore season, boasting career highs in receptions, yards, and rushing. Singleton hauled in 56 receptions for 754 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games. He also posted 131 rushing yards on 21 carries and one touchdown.

He is ranked among the top transfers by ESPN

In an ESPN article, Max Olson compiled his final transfer portal rankings, where he ranks the top 100 transfers for the 2025 season. Olson ranks Eric Singleton Jr. as the top wide receiver and the 6th-best overall transfer. He goes on to say that he is expected to receive a lot of targets and could end up being a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
“Singleton was an instant difference-maker for Georgia Tech’s offense when he arrived, earning Freshman All-America honors in 2023 and finishing second for the ACC’s Offensive Rookie of the Year honor. The three-star signee from Douglasville, Georgia, caught 104 passes for 1,468 yards and scored 10 offensive touchdowns over the past two seasons,” Olson said.
“He has the talent to become an early-round draft pick and was one of the most coveted players in the portal.
“Singleton should play a high-target role for the Tigers as they replace talented pass catchers KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Rivaldo Fairweather.”
He is looking to accomplish a rare Auburn Tigers feat

Eric Singleton Jr. is looking to have an impressive 2025 season and become the first Auburn Tigers wide receiver since 1972 to be selected in the first round. The last time a Tigers WR was taken in the first round was Terry Beasley when the San Francisco 49ers took him 19th overall. Many scouts believe he could break their long streak.
