It was later revealed on the broadcast that the officiating team did not have access to the camera angles that Amazon Prime, the hosts of Thursday Night Football. This lack of camera access seemingly resulted in a botched call.

The incident caused Falcons star safety Justin Simmons to call into question the validity of officiating in the NFL. If the officials don’t have the best camera angle to make the call in this instance, how many other poor calls have been made due to extremely solvable issues?

The call ended up being a non-factor as the 49ers were able to pull away from the Seahawks regardless. Still, the implications of officials not having access to the best possible camera angles in every single situation does no favors for NFL officials who undergo massive amounts of scrutiny each and every week.
