The Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback Kyler Murray had yet another big week, with a comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers. Then in a social media post on Monday, Murray revealed he’s linked up with Call of Duty before the hugely popular Black Ops 6 release later this month.
It’s also significant news for Murray, who’s long been associated with video games, most specifically Call of Duty. For years, critics have trashed him for his computer game obsession, with analysts and trolls wondering about his commitment to football because his obsession is cutting into his game planning. Kyler Murray even drew criticisms from plenty of memes and jokes that mocked the nature of his gameplay and release dates to Call of Duty. However, the Cardinals star always insisted that gaming is a way for him to relax and mentally recover.
To the trolls who memed me into a bag, thank you!

From Criticism to Collaboration: Kyler Murray Embraces His Love for Gaming
In an interview with ESPN in 2021, Murray explained how important gaming is for him and many other athletes. “It’s a thing for us to just calm down and kind of just take a step back, have a different perspective,” Murray said. “A lot of us love to do it, so it definitely helps the mental, because the game of football, the sport in general, is very emotional.”
Murray is now flipping the jokes for a win, teaming up with the legendary video game franchise Call of Duty. Murray took on the long-running jokes in a YouTube video after the announcement, along with answering fan questions. “I don’t know who or why they made me the face of all the Call of Duty jokes,” Murray said with a smile. “But actually I appreciate it because we just partnered with each other.”
This is not just a business deal for Murray who is a lifelong gamer, but a beautiful partnership that is a dream come true for Murray. It’s also a reminder for fans to remember that Kyler Murray is an elite quarterback and an all-around gamer, and he’s ready to own you in both.
