There were questions about Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day during the 2024 season after they suffered its fourth straight loss against the Michigan Wolverines. Many people were calling for Day to be fired after that game, but Ohio State had a chance to rewrite history.
The Buckeyes won the national title against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. With Ohio State winning it all, Day is viewed differently now as a head coach across the college football landscape. This may not be the only time that he wins a national title with this program.
College Football Analyst Lists Ohio State Buckeyes Head Coach Ryan Day Amongst One of the Top Coaches In the Nation
On the podcast, The Joel Klatt Show, Joel Klatt was talking about many different things to potentially watch for when Ohio State hosts the Texas Longhorns in Week 1 of the 2025 college football season. Klatt mentioned that Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian is one of the top five-six coaches in the entire country.
Well, Klatt also praised Day as being one of the top coaches in the country and how winning the national championship has helped Day shaped himself. Klatt said,
“And now he’s going against a guy that now is easily in the top two or three in the country, and that’s Ryan Day. And how different has this offseason felt for Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes? I mean, my goodness, granted, they have not beaten Michigan in several years, but winning the national championship has made this feel totally different.”
Winning the national championship has no doubt made Day feel different. There is no pressure on the Ohio State head coach to win another won because he finally won a ring. Had they not won it all last year, there would be the question of can the Buckeyes win a national title with him as head coach? Well, Day will never have to hear those questions from the media again.
Although there will be one question that Ohio State fans will have to hear once again. Will they finally end the losing streak to the Michigan Wolverines this season? Michigan has won its last four meetings against the Buckeyes. However, it will be talked about despite Ohio State winning a national title in 2024. They will look to go back-to-back in 2025 despite a lot of talent being lost to the NFL, but Day always reloads and is one of the top coaches in the country.
