The Alabama Crimson Tide was going to be an interesting program in how they were going to be attractive to potential recruits after the retirement of Nick Saban and the hiring of former Washington coach Kalen DeBoer. However, it seems they have a significant recruiting ability still as it is being reported that offensive lineman Jackson Lloyd, the top recruit in the state of California, officially committed to the Roll Tide.
Jackson Lloyd is a four-star prospect according to all of the industry rankings and is a massive frame to protect quarterback Jalen Milroe. He is currently listed at 6-foot-6, 280 pounds out of Carmel, California and is a three-sport athlete. Lloyd was one of the first targets that Kalen DeBoer was interested in right away.
Jackson Lloyd was the first player to reveal an offer from the Alabama Crimson Tide after the retirement of legendary coach Nick Saban. He originally received an offer last summer to the Washington Huskies last summer and returned for an unofficial visit to the University of Alabama. It was actually the only school that Lloyd visited ahead before May.
While speaking to Bama On Line, Jackson Lloyd’s father, Ryan, discussed why Jackson was interested in Alabama over different schools.
“Jackson is not impressed with flash… I think some of the programs he crossed off the list early were focused on the glamour. The thig that I thought Kadyn (Proctor) and Wilkin (Formby) did a great job of doing was emphasizing the brotherhood to him. That’s ultra-important for Jackson. He’s so focused on the brotherhood and the team. That was a huge priority for him – to get to know the guys and see that.”
The Alabama Crimson Tide did an outstanding job adding to their offensive line as they were able to also get commitments from Mike Carroll, the second-ranked interior offensive lineman, and Mal Waldrep, a three-star interior offensive lineman.

What should we expect out of the Alabama Crimson Tide going forward?

The Alabama Crimson Tide are going to be an intriguing team but with the expansion of the College Football Playoff to 12 teams, they should be able to make the postseason. It is going to be an adjustment to see how Kalen DeBoer calls the Roll Tide’s games compared to how Saban did for more than 15 years but they significantly beefed up the offensive line and that will do great for the team.
It also appears that there will not be a quarterback battle in Tuscaloosa and Jalen Milroe will have the starting job. Milroe finished well last season as he ended up going 187-of-284 (65.8%) for 2,834 yards with 23 passing touchdowns to six interceptions. With a stronger offensive line, expect the Roll Tide to be a strong team in 2024 and beyond.
