Aaron Rodgers is once again keeping the National Football League’s wheels spinning in the quiet offseason.
Speculation mounts in the offseason as to where league-wide potential trade targets may land. Brandon Aiyuk, for example, unhappy at the San Francisco 49ers with whom he is currently unable to negotiate an extension, has been a target for a variety of NFL teams, including the ‘receiver away’ Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ Tee Higgins has also had a broad circulation of rumors surrounding his imminent future despite recently signing his franchise tender, the lowly New England Patriots and resurgent Detroit Lions among potential destinations.
Davante Adams Could Be Moving To The Big Apple?
Yet, a bigger blockbuster deal could be in the works sooner than not, at least if Aaron Rodgers’ not-so-coy hints are to be trusted.
Rodgers has expressed on multiple occasions his desire to reunite with former Green Bay Packers teammate and 3 x All Pro megastar, Davante Adams since being traded to the New York Jets last offseason.
In the lull of the offseason break between minicamp and training camp, which commences in mid-July, whispers have turned into substantially louder voices, with Adams recently revealing that Rodgers is “in his ear, for sure” concerning a potential reunion.
Now, after comments from 4 x MVP to Vegas Sports Today, smoke has turned into fully fledged flames, via Ari Meirov.

Is Davante Adams Still An Elite Receiver?
Davante Adams has been widely regarded as a member of the NFL’s elite wide receivers since 2019, and having attained an All-Pro nod in 2022, the Fresno State alum proved that he could play the highest level even without stellar QB play (no offense to Derek Carr).
However, in 2023, Adams took a step back in his play under the stewardship of moderately impressive but still 4th round rookie quarterback, Aiden O’Connell. The former Packer compiled 1,144 yards; on paper another good – excellent year; but in reality he did not feel like the same dominant force that the world saw just a year prior.
Adams’ yards/play dropped to 11.1 from 15.2 in 2022, whilst his touchdowns scored fell from 14 to 8, all the while having little receiving help outside of the unspectacular but ever-consistent Jakobi Meyers.
Even more than that, the 6 x Pro Bowler would disappear in big games and not feel like the reliable – dominant even – 3rd down machine that we had been used to for the past half decade, reaching 100 receiving yards just 3 times in 2023, down from 7 the year prior.
Aaron Rodgers Looking Forward To Playing With Davante Adams “Again”
Nevertheless, Aaron Rodgers seems intent on bringing in his former teammate, evidently believing the man still has top tier talent to complement what already has the potential to be an excellent receiving corps in former Offensive Rookie of the Year, Garrett Wilson; big bodied playmaker, Mike Williams; ex-Packer 2023 free agent signing, Allen Lazard; and highly regarded 3rd round rookie, Malachi Corley.
The New York Jets chose to pass on selecting an offensive weapon in the 1st round of this past year’s NFL draft, choosing talented offensive tackle, Olu Fashanu instead of “All-World” college tight end, Brock Bowers, who went 2 picks later to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Although they did subsequently take Corley in the 3rd round, whom they targeted in the mid-2nd, Rodgers feels, understandably, that Adams can still bolster a Jets roster that feels like they are 100% in win now mode for this upcoming season, especially if it turns out to be the future Hall of Famer’s last.
