Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, is hoping for a successful campaign with the team before he hangs up his cleats for good. While Rodgers himself has stated previously that the sole reason why he joined the Steelers was because he felt that the team would indeed win, many NFL pundits are raising their eyebrows as to what the aging quarterback actually brings to the team.
Rodgers is currently 41 years old and will be 42 by the time the first few weeks of the season are underway. While his age is one factor that no one can ignore, the quarterback’s overall health is also being questioned right now. Former NFL scout John Middlekauff, in a recent episode of his ‘3 and Out’ podcast ,discussed Rodgers’ current state and whether the quarterback can be expected to do much in the upcoming season for the Steelers.
“So when I look at Aaron Rodgers, to me there are only two outcomes. One: his body, in terms of his arm, is fine. He can still throw the ball. Maybe he doesn’t throw the ball as well as when he was 30, but his arm strength relative to the rest of the NFL is still more than capable—probably still top six or seven in the league. So to me, it’s like—can he stay healthy for 17 games? Because if you told me right now that Aaron Rodgers starts all 17 games, I’d say, “Yeah, I could see them being pretty good.” John Middlekauff spoke about Aaron Rodgers in the latest episode of his ‘3 and Out’ podcast.

Aaron Rodgers had a major Achilles injury in his very first season with the New York Jets. While the injury had completely recovered in time for his next season with New York, the quarterback still failed to bring out impressive numbers, eventually leading the team to release him in March this year.

Aaron Rodgers Will Be Cut If He Doesn’t Perform, Says James Harrison
Meanwhile, other NFL analysts like former linebacker James Harrison are still highly skeptical of Aaron Rodgers’ performance at this point. Recently, Harrison predicted that the Pittsburgh Steelers will be ready to release Aaron Rodgers if the veteran quarterback fails to perform at some point in the season.

However, this is not the vibe that the Steelers franchise has been giving out. Pretty much immediately after the Jets had released Rodgers, the Steelers have been pushing Rodgers to come to their team and already centered their roster around him even before the QB could sign with the team.
