Aaron Rodgers’ signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers has been touted to be the move of this year’s NFL offseason, with many expecting the team to do well in the upcoming football season because they have the veteran QB starting for them. At the same time, there have been several NFL analysts and game pundits who feel that the Rodgers and Steelers marriage is doomed right from the start.
Among those naysayers is renowned sports journalist Skip Bayless, who recently remarked that the Steelers will tank in the upcoming NFL season. He also predicted the Pittsburgh Steelers to be the ones to get Arch Manning, Texas Longhorns quarterback, who is expected to be the no. 1 draft pick next year.
“I said he’s washed. I said all you need to know that three teams have effectively dumped him. 10 years since you won a playoff game, and now it sure appears that you could be the front runner in what I assume or presume, it’s going to be the Arch Manning derby next year. You could just have the worst record in the league, especially stuck in that division with that new quarterback (Aaron Rodgers)…” Skip Bayless said about Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers combination.
Aaron Rodgers was released by the New York Jets earlier this year in March and the Steelers immediately showed an interest in bringing him to their locker room. However, there were also rumors of the quarterback simply hanging up his cleats and retiring from the game altogether, mainly because of his depleting stats.

Aaron Rodgers’ Cheap Contract With Steelers May Be A Sign Of Retirement
While NFL analysts like Skip Bayless believe that Aaron Rodgers will not do the Pittsburgh Steelers any good, others feel that this is all simply a step away from retirement for the veteran quarterback. Even before he signed with the Steelers officially, it was rumored that Rodgers may actually announce his retirement from the league.

However, after he signed with the Steelers, the same fans changed their mind and remarked that the quarterback has plenty more juice left in him and will play for a few more seasons. But, on taking a close look at the contract that Aaron Rodgers has signed with Pittsburgh, it seems like the quarterback may be closer to retirement than people think. The deal of a base value of $13.65 million is easily a lot lesser than Rodgers is worth.
