The Green Bay Packers did not trade Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets until April 24, 2023, a few days before the first round of the draft happened on April 27. Rodgers’ status could be unclear this offseason until late April.
Rodgers is reportedly interested in the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Russell is interested in the Giants, Steelers, and Cleveland Browns, but appears to be the second choice behind Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers is not in a hurry

While Rodgers is the last key domino at quarterbacks before the draft, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network suggested the four-time NFL MVP situation than almost every quarterback in free agency.
“Now here’s sort of the issue for the Giants, and it’s the same issue for the Steelers, or whoever ends up signing Aaron Rodgers,” Rapoport said. I don’t get the sense he’s in a hurry at all. I really don’t. And there’s no deadline for him. Usually, if you’re a free agent, you would say like ‘All right, I get to sign maybe Monday afternoon or maybe Tuesday morning.’ Otherwise, the money is going to be dried up…
“If you’re a team that wants Aaron Rodgers, you’re gonna make sure that there’s (cap) space. You’re gonna make sure there’s room. You’re gonna do everything you can to let him know, ‘Hey, whenever you make a decision, we got you, right.’

Could a decision be coming in April?

Rapoport suggested that Rodgers might wait until closer to the draft on April 24 before signing with a team.
“The other thing is, he doesn’t have to decide by any time,” Rapoport said. “I mean, he sort of controls this thing. There’s no actual deadline. So if you’re the Giants or the Vikings or the Steelers, or whoever ends up signing Aaron Rodgers, if it’s anyone, then you’d like it now.
“But the next point is, do you draft someone? And that’s a month or so away. So like, all of us would kind of like this done sooner rather than later. I don’t get the sense Rodgers is in any hurry at all. And like, could it go all the way to the draft, like I did two years ago, maybe it could.”
Rodgers is making life difficult for the Giants and Steelers. The Vikings are fine with J.J. McCarthy. The fact that New York and Pittsburgh haven’t signed Wilson already is a testament to the talent that those two organizations believe Rodgers has.
Frankly, if the Steelers and Giants are willing to wait, the Vikigns should pounce. Imagine Rodgers’ talent with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
