The NFL world is waiting on former Green Bay Packers and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers to make a decision on whether or not he will sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2025 season. After being released by New York earlier this offseason, Pittsburgh has been the only team that has been willing to wait on the four-time NFL MVP to make a decision regarding his football future.
Unfortunately for Steelers fans, that decision does not seem to have a timeline. While there are rumors surrounding potential dates, the fact of the matter is that the franchise has not put a deadline on a decision.
And given what is going on in his personal life, Rodgers is not putting a deadline on it either.
Aaron Rodgers Reveals that Multiple People in His Life Are Battling Cancer

Rodgers has not made many public media appearances this offseason. The first one he did was, of course, on the “Pat McAfee Show” where he revealed that the reason for the delay in his decision was that some people that he was close to were dealing with some pretty heavy things.
He did not reveal what those things were. That is, he did not reveal them until Wednesday.
The four-time NFL MVP made his second media appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast. During this three-hour long interview, he revealed that multiple people in his life are currently battling cancer, and that he is taking time to do what he can for them.
“I’ve figured it out the last year when I’ve been in the weeds with these people who are close to me that have cancer,” Rodgers said.
“I mean it’s a small percentage,” he had stated earlier this year to Pat McAfee. “Because the conversations have been had. There’s no more contemplation. I’m taking care of my people right now, and I’m taking care of my personal life responsibilities, and I’m keeping the conversation open as well.
“I’m in a serious relationship. I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention. I have personal commitments I have made. I have a couple of people in my inner, inner circle who are battling some difficult stuff. So, I have a lot of things that are taking my attention.”
NFL Fans Have Mixed Reactions to the Aaron Rodgers Cancer News

Rodgers, of course, is one of the more polarizing figures in all of sports. Despite the emotional and serious nature of his revelation, fans still had mixed reactions regarding the news:
Steelers don’t need another one and done QB. Good luck Aaron.

Say what you will about the man, but there’s no denying that he loves his family and will always put them first.

There are some things that are bigger than football, and this is certainly one of them. Regardless of what Rodgers decides to do in 2025, it will be with the best interests of those closest to him in mind.
