Aaron Rodgers expected to be the starting quarterback of the New York Jets heading into the 2025 season, but instead sees himself in black and yellow with the Pittsburgh Steelers. There seemingly is a bit of bad blood between the two sides following the departure of the four-time NFL MVP and it continues to show.
Rodgers returned from a torn Achilles tendon in the 2024 season and the New York Jets offense did not look too well, which ultimately cost coach Robert Saleh his job and saw interim coach Jeff Ulbrich struggle to keep things afloat. However, Rodgers reportedly seemed to deflect some blame and instead pointed it in other directions when discussing the issues surrounding Gang Green.
Aaron Rodgers Attacks New York Jets Running Game

While discussing the situation on The Stinkin Truth Podcast, former NFL offensive guard Mark Schlereth discussed how he spoke with Aaron Rodgers and the quarterback went on a rant about the New York Jets.
“Aaron and I had a conversation about when he was with the Jets was how abysmal their running game was and how schematically it made no sense. I started the conversation, and then Aaron went on for about a 25-minute diatribe on just their run game.”
The Jets were 31st in the league with 1,561 rushing yards during the 2024 season and were tied with the Cleveland Browns for 30th with eight rushing touchdowns. With new coach Aaron Glenn calling the shots as well as a dual-threat quarterback in Justin Fields, it is expected to take a massive step in the right direction.
Aaron Rodgers has a chance to put his foot down in Week 1 of the regular season as the Pittsburgh Steelers host the New York Jets. It will be interesting to see if the Jets utilize a more run-heavy offense with Breece Hall and Braelon Allen in the backfield as well as Fields being mobile at the quarterback position.
