We begin our Fantasy Flames series in the AFC East. The goal is to outline what players will outproduce their ADP.
AFC EAST:
Devin Singletary- RB Buffalo Bills
Singletary has been left for dead at times in various fantasy circles. When the Buffalo Bills drafted Zack Moss a couple of seasons ago, the fantasy community hit the panic button on Devin Singletary, and no one wanted him.
Even this off-season, many in the NFL Draft community predicted the Bills to select Breece Hall in the 1st round. The Bills did not select Breece Hall. They used their 2nd round pick on James Cook. Some in the fantasy community believe this is a detriment to Devin Singletary’s draft stock.
If you recall, the Buffalo Bills signed J.D. McKissic in the off-season before McKissic pivoted and returned back to Washington. The Bills seemed hellbent on adding a prolific pass-catcher out of the backfield–so they drafted James Cook.
Heading into 2022, I don’t believe James Cook is a threat to Devin Singletary’s early-down workload, and Singletary should still be in line for the high-value touches around the goal line.
Devin Singletary, drafted in the double-digit rounds in many fantasy leagues, is a steal at that price tag.
Raheem Mostert – RB Miami Dolphins
The last off-season Chase Edmonds was hyped up as the lead back for the Arizona Cardinals. Edmonds’ ADP in the summer of 2021 was in the 6th round range. Edmonds fell flat. This off-season, the Miami Dolphins signed him to a free agent contract.
I am not falling for Edmonds twice. As we sit here today, Chase Edmonds is at the top of the Dolphins’ backfield depth chart. Raheem Mostert is familiar with the Mike McDaniel-led offense and has elite burst to the outside.
Chase Edmonds costs you a mid-round draft pick. Raheem Mostert is free at the end of your draft. I would take a flier on Mostert before investing draft capital in Edmonds.
Devante Parker – WR New England Patriots
The New England Patriots offense has missed an outside perimeter threat at the wide receiver position for quite some time. The Patriots thought they were drafting that skill set when they took N’Keal Harry a few years back. Unfortunately, Harry did not pan out, and the Patriots have moved on.
The Patriots traded a 2023 3rd round pick to acquire Devante Parker. The draft capital they sent to Miami for Parker alone should tell you that they will deploy Parker as their No. 1 receiver.
I anticipate the Patriots will move to a more pass-heavy approach as second-year quarterback Mac Jones takes another step.
Fantasy football managers are drafting Devante Parker in the 10th round, where he should be drafted two rounds earlier. I would pounce on Parker and reap the value.
Garrett Wilson – WR New York Jets
Traditionally, rookie wide receivers can make some of the best value selections in fantasy football drafts. In the case of Garrett Wilson, I don’t understand the hesitancy.
Many, including myself, had Garrett Wilson as the top receiver prospect in the 2022 NFL Draft. Drake London ultimately was the first receiver drafted at 8th overall by the Atlanta Falcons. Wilson came off the board two picks later to the New York Jets, and he’s drafted three rounds later than Drake London in fantasy drafts. What am I missing?
I understand the skepticism on Zach Wilson and the Jets offense. It’s not exactly like the Atlanta Falcons are a juggernaut offensively.
I believe fantasy managers are certain that Elijah Moore will be the alpha in the Jets’ passing game. Garrett Wilson has a better shot at becoming the alpha receiver and is a screaming buy after the top 100 picks come off the board.
