The Washington Huskies had a remarkable 2023 college football season. Unfortunately, they came up just short in the national championship game against the Michigan Wolverines. Now, it looks like it will be difficult for the Huskies to get back to that point next season. That is because they are losing a lot of offensive talent to the NFL Draft.
9 Washington Huskies Offensive Players Invited to NFL Scouting Combine
Earlier this morning, the NFL revealed the full list of players invited to this year’s NFL Scouting Combine. One thing that stuck out about this list was the number of players from last year’s Washington offense invited to this. There were nine total offensive players from the Huskies. Here is the full list:
- QB Michael Penix Jr.
- RB Dillon Johnson
- WR Rome Odunze
- WR Jalen McMillan
- WR Ja’Lynn Polk
- TE Devin Culp
- TE Jack Westover
- OL Troy Fautanu
- OL Roger Rosengarten
Washington’s Elite Offense Last Season
The reason why this is so notable is because this is almost all of Washington’s offensive starters from last season. On top of this, Washington had one of the best offenses in the country during their run toward a national championship appearance. Just how good was this offense?
Washington was 13th in the country in points per game (36). Plus, the Huskies were 12th in total offense, with 462.1 yards per game.
Washington Huskies Moving Forward
Washington has their hands full next season. They have to replace 13 total players invited to the NFL Scouting Combine. This does not include the players transferring and de-committing from Washington. Plus, head coach Kalen DeBoer left Washington to take the same position at Alabama. It is safe to say the 2024 college football season could be challenging for Jedd Fisch and company.
