The San Francisco 49ers joined in on the NBA frenzy Wednesday night following the miracle comeback victory by Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
The Pacers looked like they were headed to a loss with the Knicks enjoying a big lead with just minutes remaining in regulation.
However, Indiana refused to throw in the towel, as Aaron Nesmith and Haliburton joined forces to will the Pacers into a late-game stand. Haliburton sent the game into overtime with an improbable two-point jumper as time expired in the fourth quarter. The Pacers did not waste the opportunity in overtime, as they came away with a 138-135 victory.
After the game, the Niners shared a photo of Haliburton in a Brock Purdy jersey.
“Not surprised 🤷,” the Niners wrote as caption.

Haliburton’s decision to wear a Brock Purdy jersey was not simply a random one for the Pacers star point guard. The two athletes have at least one thing in common, including the fact that they both played college sports for the Iowa State Cyclones.

Against the Knicks, Haliburton had 31 points and 11 assists while Nesmith contributed 30 points with eight 3-pointers.
As for Purdy, he just got a lot richer after inking a five-year, $265 million contract extension with the 49ers.
