Brock Purdy is a much richer man after striking a massive five-year $265 million contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers.
After a long saga that stretched into the offseason, Purdy and the 49ers are finally moving on from it, with the former Iowa State Cyclones star expected to be San Francisco’s No. 1 quarterback option for more years to come.
Several years back, not many people expected Purdy to sniff such a contract in the NFL, let alone sign one.
He was taken last overall in the 2022 NFL draft, but took advantage of every opportunity that came his way before becoming a regular starter for the 49ers.
49ers send strong Brock Purdy message on social media

After inking the 25-year-old Purdy to a new contract, the 49ers sent a powerful message online to celebrate the deal.
“13 IS OFFICIALLY HERE TO STAY,” a post from the Niners read.

That post has since gone viral, with several fans leaving reactions, good and bad.
“This may go down as one of the worst contracts in sports history”
“Well-deserved 🥹”
“Ready to play more 🏈”
“People [expletive]on the deal but how many serviceable consistent QB’s are there in the league now? Best to lock down QB1 first”
“The closing of the window”
“Good for him, he earned it! 🔥”
Purdy can prove his supporters right and his nayasyers wrong in 2025 following a down season for the 49ers. In 2024, Purdy passed for 3,894 yards and 20 touchdowns against 12 interceptions in 15 games, as San Francisco finished with just a 6-11 record and missed the NFL playoffs for the first time since the 2020 campaign.
