The college football playoff semifinals kicked off from the Orange Bowl Thursday night between Penn State and Notre Dame.
Notre Dame got the better of the Nittany Lions, winning 27-24 with a 41-yard field goal with 12 seconds left on the foot of Mitch Jeter.
Notre Dame Takes Down Penn State
Penn State quarterback Drew Allar threw a brutal interception with 38 seconds to set up the Fighting Irish game-winning drive. They are returning to their first National Championship game since January of 2013.
It is yet to be known what opponent Notre Dame will be facing In Atlanta on Monday, January 20th, but one Fighting Irish player is hammering to go up against the biggest brand in the north.
Texas will face Ohio State in the second semifinal game of the Cotton Bowl on Friday night, and the Buckeyes come in as heavy favorites.
Even though the majority of Americans support Ohio State, the game still has to be played, and there is a chance Texas, with its incredible talent, will knock off the Buckeyes.
Right now, people are preparing for an Ohio State vs. Notre Dame title game, and Fighting Irish running back Jeremiyah Love wants to see the Scarlet and Gray.
Love Wants The Buckeyes
After the Irish Oraneg Bowl victory, the star running back made it known he is all on the Buckeyes winning.
“We want to play Ohio State. We lost to them last year in a game we should have won,” Love told Andy Staples of On3. “I feel like Ohio State is better than Texas. I want to play the best and win.”
Notre Dame has faced Ohio State in the last two regular seasons, dating back to 2022, and has lost both times in some great matchups.
There still has to be a bad taste in everyone’s mouth in South Bend about how the ending of last season’s game went.
With one second left, the Buckeyes were down 17-14 and pounded in a game-winning touchdown because Notre Dame only had 10 people on defense.
From that moment, head coach Marcus Freeman has been a significantly different coach. He will never again let his defense have 10 people on the field.
The Buckeyes must first handle business against the Longhorns. If they do, the week before the title game will be one for the ages.
