With the popularity of Dynasty Fantasy Football leagues at an all-time high, we wanted to look at how the Fantasy Football landscape can alter when fantasy managers must look more long-term.
TIER ONE:
Josh Allen- Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen deserves to be at the top of every quarterback ranking–regardless of format. Josh Allen is close to being in his own tier in dynasty, but given that things change so quickly in the NFL, best to make it a group of four.
Justin Herbert- Los Angeles Chargers
Some readers may be surprised to see Justin Herbert over Patrick Mahomes. You are splitting hairs with these guys, but Herbert is two years younger than Mahomes and has arguably better weapons around him.
Patrick Mahomes II- Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes is no longer the top dynasty quarterback. Mahomes still feels very safe in an offense that we know will be high-powered. If you’re ever going to have a chance to buy Patrick Mahomes in dynasty leagues, the time is now.
Lamar Jackson- Baltimore Ravens
Following his 2021 season, some may have an issue with Lamar Jackson’s inclusion in the top tier. Look back to Lamar’s 2019 or 2020 numbers, and you quickly remember the type of upside he possesses.
TIER TWO:
Kyler Murray- Arizona Cardinals
Kyler Murray is close to inclusion in the top tier. I don’t have as much confidence in the Arizona Cardinals coaching staff and front office long-term, which gives us some pause.
Joe Burrow- Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow does not offer the same type of upside as Lamar Jackson or Kyler Murray. Burrow isn’t that type of runner. Joe Burrow feels incredibly safe in an offense supported by superstar WR Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
Trey Lance- San Francisco 49ers
Trey Lance is the reason why fantasy football exists. Lance has incredible upside, and Kyle Shanahan is one of the best offensive minds in the game. The Lance/Shanahan combination will be fascinating to watch.
Dak Prescott- Dallas Cowboys
I anticipate Dak Prescott to return to the pre-injury form. CeeDee Lamb, Dalton Schultz, Michael Gallup, Ezekiel Elliott, and Tony Pollard provide enough firepower to get excited. The Dallas Cowboys offense thrives for fantasy purposes.
TIER THREE:
Trevor Lawrence- Jacksonville Jaguars
Last year was a trainwreck for Trevor Lawrence in his rookie season. Much of that can be excusable with the mess that was Urban Meyer as Head Coach. There’s a reason why Lawrence was the #1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. I am banking on a bounce-back sophomore season.
Russell Wilson- Denver Broncos
Some readers may feel Russell Wilson should be placed higher on the list. While I am excited to see what Russell Wilson can do in Denver with the plethora of weapons the Broncos have, he is also 33 years old and has not run as much as of late.
Deshaun Watson- Cleveland Browns
There is some volatility here when gauging the long-term value of Deshaun Watson. We remain in the dark on how long the Watson suspension will be. If we assume that he is will be under center no later than the beginning of 2023, he is a dynasty buy at this price tag.
