The Florida Gators may not begin their season for a couple of months, but that does not mean some key players are going to be absent from the spotlight. In a surprise appearance on WWE NXT on the CW Network on Tuesday, George Gumbs Jr. and Tyreak Sapp were seen on television of the weekly show.
Florida Gators Represented on WWE NXT
In a backstage segment on WWE NXT, pro wrestler Myles Borne was talking to a pair of Florida Gator players as edge rushers George Gumbs Jr. and Tyreak Sapp were standing backstage with Sapp holding a Florida Gators WWE Championship belt on his shoulder.
“Tyreak Sapp, George Gumbs, I’m so hyped you guys are here. I appreciate you guys coming to NXT. You see, I lived in North Carolina my whole life. But them Tim Tebow days made me a huge Florida Gators fan. … But hey, this year is your year. I mean, you’ve got a lot of returners on offense. (You two) anchoring down the defense. Gators are so back.”
We got some @GatorsFB players in the house! 🐊
Don’t worry @GeorgeGumbs and @SappTyreak, @mylesborne_wwe will take care of @LexisKingWWE. 😮💨#WWENXT pic.twitter.com/drOB8VU6f0

The segment cut before either Sapp or Gumbs could get physical, but it was a fun crossover event. This would be the only appearance of the two on WWE television for the night, but WWE did post the clip on their X (previously Twitter) and it has been viewed by more than 116,300 people in less than three hours.
College football players are no strangers to transitioning after their football playing days to professional wrestling, so it will be interesting to see if either Gumbs or Sapp make future WWE appearances.
