Rutgers football has been in a recruiting role recently landing three four-star recruits in the past week. To add to their recruiting momentum, the Knights landed two three-star cornerback commits on Sunday, both of them out-of-state commits from down south.
The first commit of the day came from Kaylib Singleton. Singleton plays at Fleming Island in Orange Park, Florida, where he racked up 27 tackles and an interception on his way to earning an All-First Coast Third Team selection during his Junior campaign for the Golden Eagles. He currently stands at 6 foot 1, 173 pounds.

He also played track and field in high school where he was district champion in the 100-meter dash as a freshman running the field in 11 seconds. He is the newest addition in a recent trend for the Knights where they have gotten players with a track background as he is the third player this cycle they have recruited who had an impressive 100-meter dash time.
Singleton is the fifth recruit for Rutgers out of Florida as the Scarlet Knights are showing that their Sunshine State connections are alive and well. He is rated as the No. 61 player in Florida and the No. 43 best cornerback in the class of 2025. He had offers from schools like LSU, he had an official visit at Florida, and he had an official visit scheduled for this weekend at Michigan before he canceled it to close his recruiting in favor of Rutgers.
The second commit of the day for Rutgers was Jakarrion Kenan out of Clinton High School in Bennetsville, South Carolina. Kenan currently stands at six feet, 177 pounds. During his Junior year, he recorded 17 tackles, five tackles for loss, and four interceptions. In addition to Singleton. Kenan also ran track finishing with a personal best of 15.89 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. He chose to play for the Knights despite having taken an official visit to Duke, and having an official visit at Mississippi State scheduled for this weekend which he canceled.
What these commits mean for Rutgers
Both of these commits show just how well Rutgers has been recruiting in the southeast. The Knights have now landed five commits from Florida, three commits from Georgia, and two commits from South Carolina. This is the second year in a row that the Knights have posted a solid recruiting number in the south as 12 out of the 25 commits Rutgers landed for 2025 hailed from the southern United States. These commits show that nothing has changed and the Knights still have a strong recruiting base down there.
Another way that both of these commits have a big impact on the Knights future is the fact that they are both cornerbacks. Rutgers is currently thinning at the position as is and needed a big recruiting class in terms of cornerbacks to help ensure that they are not lacking at the position later down the line. Now they have four cornerbacks coming in, all with impressive speed and upside.
The final hidden meaning that their recruitment has for Rutgers is that it means that the Knights will once against climb the ladder in terms of recruitment class rankings. 247sports currently has Rutgers ranked as the No.9 recruiting class in the nation, up one spot from yesterday, and Rivals currently has Rutgers rated at the No.5 recruiting class in the nation. Rivals also has Rutgers rated at number three in terms of Big Ten recruiting classes behind only USC and Ohio State. 247sports has a similar rating for the Knights, just further down the list of top classes in the nation.
