The New England Patriots and their fan base are spending Wednesday night celebrating the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.
Thousands of fans joined former teammates, coaches and family members at Gillette Stadium to hold a ceremony that marked Tom Brady’s official induction into the team’s Hall of Fame.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft waived the team’s usual four-year waiting period to ensure that Brady could be inducted this offseason.
Tirico made a reference to the Netflix roast and how extreme some of the jokes were at that show aimed at the New England Patriots legend.
Let’s just say that got a little sticky and uncomfortable,” Tirico said. He also addressed the randomness of his appearance, saying that instead of Kevin Hart, the Patriots “Went with someone taller and a little more handsome, and they got me.”
In a direct contradiction to that event, when Brady got up to speak with Tirico a few minutes into the ceremony, he spoke about how impactful Robert Kraft and his family were on his development through “shared experiences.” He also got emotional referencing Myra Kraft, who passed away in 2011.
Certainly a bit of a different tone than the Netflix roast. Seems like this is much more the kind of event Brady wanted all along.
While it was expected that Brady — who was instrumental in bringing the Patriots 6 Super Bowl rings — would be praised with stories and speeches from former teammates, coaches and even rivals, an amazing moment happened when Randy Moss picked up the microphone for the first time.
Former New England Patriots WR Randy Moss Gets Unexpected Standing Ovation At Tom Brady’s Ceremony
Randy Moss was taken in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft (21st overall) by the Minnesota Vikings. A dynamic wide receiver out of Marshall University, where he was a two-time consensus All-American (1996-97), Moss played 14 seasons in the NFL.
His career included stints with the Vikings (1998-2004, 2010), Oakland Raiders (2005-06), New England Patriots (2007-2010), Tennessee Titans (2010) and the San Francisco 49ers (2012).
Moss produced 10 seasons with 1,000-plus yards receiving and nine seasons with 10-plus touchdown receptions. A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Moss received first-team All-Pro honors four times and was named to the NFL All-Decade Team of the 2000s. He finished his career with 982 receptions for 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns. At the time of his retirement, he ranked third all-time in receiving yards and second all-time in touchdown receptions.
He was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
In 2007, Moss set the NFL single-season record for touchdown receptions with 23, helping the Patriots finish the regular season 16-0 while breaking the 1998 Vikings’ single-season record for points scored with 589. Moss made two Super Bowl appearances: Super Bowl XLII with the Patriots and XLVII with the 49ers.
But despite all of the Patriots success during Brady’s tenure at QB, Moss never won a Super Bowl during his career, In an unexpected moment on Wednesday night, Patriots fans and everyone in attendance stood on their feet to give respect to one of the greatest receivers of all time, knowing he wished he could have won one of the rings that so many other Pats players did.

It was obvious Moss was touched by the unexpected gesture from the New England Patriots faithful in attendance to celebrate Brady. It was a cool moment to see to say the least.
