The Minnesota Vikings have made their decision
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Vikings exercised Darrisaw’s 5th-year option.
“The #Vikings have exercised the fifth-year option of Christian Darrisaw — a formality for one of the elite offensive tackles in the game.”
Darrisaw had a great start to his career
The Minnesota Vikings drafted Darrisaw in the 1st round, 23rd overall of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Darrisaw played in 12 games, starting ten in his rookie season, with three penalties, five sacks allowed, and a 71.9 PFF Grade. He missed five games because of a groin injury and a high ankle sprain.
Darrisaw played in 14 games, starting 14 in his second season, with two penalties, five sacks allowed, and a 90.3 PFF Grade. He missed three games because of a concussion.
Darrisaw played in 15 games, starting 15 in his third season, with seven penalties, six sacks allowed, and an 82.4 PFF Grade. He missed two games because of a knee and groin injury.
Kevin O’Connell praised Darrisaw
Kevin O’Connell praised Darrisaw and the Vikings’ offensive line for their efforts when they upset the 49ers.
“They knew the challenge,” Kevin O’Connell said after the game. “Listen, Nick Bosa is a phenomenal, phenomenal player, and you have to be locked in on every single snap all night long, regardless of circumstance. But they also have (Arik) Armstead and (Javon) Hargrave and they have other players that continuously come at you. If you’re not locked in in one moment, it can be catastrophically bad. Tackles have been really, really good all year for us, but to answer the bell like they did tonight, can’t say enough about CD and Brian O’Neill for what they mean to this team.”
The Minnesota Vikings have their star left tackle under contract for the next two years.
