Outside of CeeDee Lamb, the Dallas Cowboys have had a shortage of elite talent in the wideout position over the past couple of years. Guys like Jalen Tolbert and Brandin Cooks, to name a couple, are no scrubs, but there’s no denying that the Cowboys could use an upgrade in this position if they hope to seriously compete for a championship this coming season.
This could come in the form of the Tennessee Titans‘ former first-round pick Treylon Burks.
Dallas Cowboys Linked to Treylon Burks Trade
Burks is no superstar, but he could prove to be the missing piece in Dallas’ WR rotation. After getting selected as the 18th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Burks hasn’t really been able to live up to the massive expectations the Titans have on him. At this point in his career, the former Arkansas standout could be in need of a change in scenery.
According to Logan Ulrich of NFL Trade Rumors, Dallas could be a good landing spot for the 24-year-old. The fact that he shares the same alma mater as team owner Jerry Jones is a connection that could be worth taking note of, as is the fact that Jones has had a reputation for taking a gamble on former first-round talents.
Ulrich argues that Burks “would compete with Tolbert to start in three-receiver sets” and that he would “add a little bit more of a physical, power-forward dynamic to Dallas’ wideout group.”
Ulrich also points out, however, that the Cowboys will likely have some competition for Burks should he suddenly become available on the trade market. The New York Jets, New York Giants, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints are four other sides that are considered to be “best potential trade fits” for the 6-foot-2 wide receiver, thereby possibly forcing Dallas to make a massive offer for Burks if they want to acquire his services for the upcoming campaign.
