West Virginia offensive lineman Zach Frazier has been named to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list. The second watchlist Frazier has been named too, recently Zach was also named to the Rimington Award watchlist. The Wuerffel Trophy is considered college footballs premier award for community service. The trophy is named after Danny Wuerffel, a 1996 national championship winning quarterback of the University of Florida Gators. The Wuerffel Trophy has a voting emphasis on Community Service.
Zach Frazier
Going into his 3rd season, Zach will be a junior this season for the Mountaineers. Moving to center in the 2021 offseason, Zach excelled on and off the field. Starting all 13 games and seeing 895 offensive snaps are not his only accomplishments from 2021. Zach was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team and was awarded the 2022 Iron Mountaineer Award. The Iron Mountaineer Award is given to those who present the most outstanding performance in WVU’s offseason strength and conditioning program.
Zach has proven to be an exemplary offensive lineman for WVU’s football team, he is also an excellent student. Frazier has been awarded the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll, and been named on the President’s List with a 4.0 GPA. From Fairmont, West Virginia, Zach has strong ties being an in state student athlete and has a major connection to the fans. Mountaineer fans can watch WVU and Frazier in their first game September 1st against Pitt in The Backyard Brawl.
Wuerffel Trophy Watch List
To be named to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list, there are 3 qualifications to meet. The person must be a first team player at any FBS school, a GPA above 3.0 is preferred, and Community Service that can be verified by a university contact. Teams all across the country have guys named to the watchlist, and nominations will continue to roll in through October. West Virginia fans all across the country will watch this season as Zach proves he has what it takes to win the Wuerffel Trophy and the Rimington Trophy.
