Aaron Rodgers launched a 68-yard touchdown to Pat Freiermuth late in the fourth quarter Thursday night, putting Pittsburgh up 31–30 over Cincinnati with two minutes left. Rodgers did not waste time to celebrate with his trademark arm pump but fans got angry over what he did to teammate Broderick Jones during the celebration.

Then the 311-pound offensive tackle jumped on Rodgers from behind, crushing him to the turf as part of the celebration, but the 41-year-old quarterback popped up furious and shoved him hard. The Bengals’ defense recorded zero sacks all game, making Jones’ celebration tackle the hardest hit Rodgers took all night.

The Steelers’ Thursday night matchup with the Bengals went down to the wire. With two minutes left and Pittsburgh trailing 30–24, Aaron Rodgers escaped pressure and fired a deep pass to Pat Freiermuth. The tight end hauled it in for a 68-yard touchdown, giving the Steelers the do-or-die lead.

Rodgers celebrated like he’d just won a Super Bowl, but things got awkward when Jones sprinted over and accidentally tackled him during the celebration. Rodgers, who tore his Achilles two years ago, got up and shoved Jones away, appearing to yell, “Get the f— off me,” as cameras caught the moment.

🚨🚨🚨OH MY GOODNESS🚨🚨🚨#STEELERS QB AARON RODGERS WAS REALLY ANGRY WITH 300+ POUND BRODERICK JONES TACKLING HIM FOR THEIR TE CELEBRATION.

Fans roasted him for his angry reaction to his own teammate’s excitement.

One fan wrote, “Lol Definitely a Grandpa Move.”

Another added, “It’s because he wanted attention and Jones took it.”

A third noted, “He really holds together the locker room, doesn’t he? This guy is an f’n human cancer…”

The fourth remarked, “His behavior is 🤮 No matter how good he was, his reactions on missed catches or anything else show what a shitty mentality he has If he was my teammate i knock out a teeth every game 😂”

A fifth added, “Every time he plays it gives me another reason to hate him. He’s such a baby and one of if not the most overrated player in nfl history.”

The celebration came too early because the team ended up losing 31–33. Rodgers’ Hail Mary attempt on the final play fell incomplete as the Steelers also lost their winning streak.

Other Fans Defend Rodgers’ Angry Reaction Over Broderick Jones Tackle

Not every fan criticized Rodgers for his outburst. Many understood his frustration given his injury history and age. Seeing a 311-pound lineman landing on a 41-year-old quarterback made a handful of people really very nervous.

One fan explained, “Aaron Rodgers was right. Imagine Aaron Rodgers going down for the season because some 300lb idiot on your own team tackled you ending your season and the Steelers season.”

Another added, “Remember the LA Angels player that got hurt getting mobbed at home plate after a walk off? Howie Kendrick I think? Stranger things happen. Rodgers is doing everything he can to stay on the field.”

The third defender noted, “I can’t stand Aaron Rodger’s, but the dude missed a whole season with a torn Achilles. And he’s old, like me. I’d be pissed too.”

Rodgers’ reaction might’ve seemed harsh to casual fans, but veterans understood it. After multiple injuries, protecting his body comes first. Jones learned a tough lesson about awareness and respecting his quarterback’s limits. We need to act formally because the Steelers need both players healthy and on the same page moving forward.
