Randi posted on X Saturday about an awkward experience at a fast-food restaurant. She and her daughter Mia were using a self-service kiosk when it asked them for a tip.
The unexpected request frustrated Randi. She couldn’t understand why a machine demanded gratuity when no human served them. This was a fair point in theory, but the internet had other ideas.

Her complaint, quite frankly, showcased a broader American frustration. Tipping has gotten out of hand in recent years. What was once a simple thank-you has morphed into an expected fee almost everywhere.
According to reports, average full-service restaurant tips in the fourth quarter of 2024 fell to 19.3%. That’s down from a high of 19.9% in the first quarter of 2021. Customers are getting fed up.
Electronic point-of-sale systems with tipping screens have normalized the practice everywhere. Randi has a point. Tipping a kiosk makes zero sense. There’s no server, no cook directly in front of you. The irony? It is just a screen asking for dollar.
But again, a handful of fans got brutal faster than the first quarter drive.
One person started, “Yeah your kid and husband a detriment to society. Pay up. In fact both should be in jail 🤷♂️”

The fifth user remarked, “So long as it goes where it is intended, I tip no matter what. Cooks, dishwasher, they all deserve it.”
Another replied, “Yep everything is that way now. Even fast food. Soon it will be all robot ran and still a tip option to tip the robot making the food lol 😆. Tipping the Machine.”
While fans keep commenting, Mahomes stays focused on preparing for his upcoming game. He’s also concerned about managing the field effectively against a scrappy Washington squad.
