The Auburn Tigers fired head coach Hugh Freeze on Sunday. He was in the middle of his third season with this football program and has not shown much progress with this team.
Auburn lost to the Kentucky Wildcats 10-3 on Saturday. Losing to Kentucky was the final straw for this program. Freeze finished with a 15-19 overall record with the Tigers. They have a 4-5 overall record this season and a 1-5 record in SEC Conference play. Auburn could still finish with a 6-6 or 7-5 record and get to a bowl game this season.

With Auburn firing Freeze, there were a lot of Auburn fans that were thrilled that he was let go. It will be interesting to see who they can get as the next head coach. This is what some Tigers fans had to say about the program firing Freeze as head coach:

You brought in talent, just look at the defense. Not sure why the offense didn’t follow suit but you were putting in the effort. Would have been different if the refs didn’t screw us with UGA.

Auburn is not the only team in the SEC Conference who will be looking for a new head coach this offseason. The Florida Gators and the LSU Tigers also will need new head coaches as well. It will be interesting to see if Freeze is a head coach again somewhere in college football. The Tigers need to get this next hire right.
