The New York Giants finished with a 3-14 record during the 2024 NFL season. Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen needed to present a plan before the end of the season to owner John Mara to fix the quarterback issues for the 2025 NFL season.

The Giants had one of the worst quarterback rooms in the NFL during the 2024 season. Because of them making this elusive plan, Mara kept both Schoen and Daboll on staff. New York made many changes to the quarterback room during the offseason.
One NFL Coach Describe New York Giants Quarterback Room Situation

During the NFL offseason, the Giants signed quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to the team. In the 2025 NFL Draft, they traded up with the Houston Texans from the 34th overall pick to the 25th overall pick and selected quarterback Jaxson Dart from the Ole Miss Rebels. The quarterback room also still has Tommy DeVito on the roster for now, but there has been major upgrades for the position.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported a story on Thursday morning about the Giants current quarterback room. One current NFL coach said,
“You need a reality show for that [quarterbacks] room.”
There is no doubt about that because all four quarterbacks on New York’s roster all have interesting personalities. Raanan also reported about this quarterback room being a reality show,
“But Schoen and Daboll didn’t assemble this group strictly for entertainment purposes. Their success will be determined by how many wins they produce, both this season and into the future.
It wasn’t as if this was always their intended combination of quarterbacks. It’s just the way it all unfolded.”
Wilson will be the starting quarterback for the Giants in 2025. Winston will most likely be the backup quarterback for New York. The plan for Dart during the 2025 NFL season will be for him to sit and learn. They don’t want to rush him into the fire and the Giants are banking on him to be the long-term solution.
What is also important is that the Giants will win more games than they did during the 2024 NFL season. New York needs to show signs of improvement in 2025 despite the tougher schedule. They will open the season in Week 1 against the Washington Commanders, and it will be interesting to see how Russell Wilson goes toe-to-toe with quarterback Jayden Daniels.
