Xavier Okwufulueze, two-sport, dual-threat star out of Owasso, Oklahoma, signed with the University of Oklahoma few hours ago. The 6’4″, 198-pound do-it-all multi-threat wide receiver and multi-sport phenomenon, in-state rival where Oklahoma State and Arkansas fell to the Sooners, among others.
This decision marks a significant win for Oklahoma’s recruiting efforts in the 2026 class, especially as it secures the program’s first in-state pledge for that cycle. He shared his excitement in a post on X, stating, “BOOMER SOONER, I’m Home!! ” The announcement came via recruiting reporter Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, who broke the news.
That commitment followed a desperate recruiting sweep during which he also was offered by Oklahoma on Monday after seeing the Sooners play Temple on tape.
He’s held out this long, racking up 13 Division I offers, Power Four programs included like Kansas State, Missouri, and TCU. A three-star prospect on the major recruiting rating sources, he’s rated No. 11 in Oklahoma state in The Oklahoman’s Super 30 for the 2026 class.

He’s the size and athleticism, 6-4 and lanky, and the type of physical ability that would transfer just as easily to the college level, particularly in the passing game. In his junior year last season, he caught 25 passes for over 400 yards and five touchdowns and showed that he could stretch the field and catch in traffic.
Oklahoma’s coaching staff, led by head coach Brent Venables and receivers coach Emmett Jones, prioritized him after reviewing his tape and seeing him in person. It was following training sessions that were big on fit and development.
He was also a starting basketball player at Rejoice Christian, had more basketball-centric priorities early in his high school career but converted to football as recruiting continued to soar. Double-sport experience makes him shippable with his body control and explosiveness the focus.
The Oklahoma pledge brings their 2026 class to 19 total commits with Okwufulueze joining second wide receiver four-star California signee Kaydin Jones.
The Sooners have moved swiftly to shore up skill positions for the SEC age. Retaining Okwufulueze keeps him from padding the stats of opponents and maintains Oklahoma’s hold on in-state recruiting firm, which yielded Baker Mayfield and CeeDee Lamb the last two years.
