“World’s Worst Owner Wants Zero Accountability”: NFL Fans Torch Jets Boss Woody Johnson for Forcing NFL to Scrap Player Report Cards

Woody Johnson is widely considered one of the worst owners in the NFL. His team the New York Jets were one of the teams that performed badly in the league last season, with a disappointing 3-14 record and missing the playoffs yet again.

The franchise has been consistently one of the poorest-performing teams in the league, last making it to the postseason in 2010. Aside from his management, the owner is now facing backlash for another reason.

Woody Johnson behind getting report cards banned

It has been confirmed that the NFL Players Association’s (NFLPA) annual team report cards will no longer be publicized. These reports were surveys done by players which were used to grade teams with factors like facilities, ownership, culture, and treatment of players being important.

Last year’s report cards were damning for the Jets owner as his players delivered scathing reviews. He received an F grade, which was the only one in the entire league. Prior to this, he had gotten a B- ownership grade. His team were ranked 29th out of the 32 NFL teams. It was due to a negative team culture, lack of investment in facilities and low commitment to build a competitive roster.

Johnson decided not to address his players’ feedbacks, instead calling it ‘totally bogus’ according to the ESPN. He led the charge during NFL owners’ meetings to ban the survey by the NFLPA, with the league filing a grievance against the players’ union. Other owners that also supported banning the reports included New England Patriots’ Robert Kraft, Arizona Cardinal’s Michael Bidwill, Pittsburgh Steelers’ Art Rooney, and Carolina Panthers’ David Tepper.

They alleged that the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) was violated by the public surveys as they criticized teams and owners based on anonymous data. An arbitrator finally ruled in the league’s favor, and the report cards will no longer be released in the future. Many NFL fans decided to attack the Jets owner for banning the report cards instead of working to solve his players’ issues.

Woody Johnson faces fan backlash over report card ban

Many social media users attacked the 78-year-old for his actions behind banning the NFLPA report cards instead of solving his team’s problems. Especially considering his team is one of the worst in the league, many bashed him for it.

One user replied, “Woody does not need a report card to know he is a terrible owner. Just look at the Jets since he’s owned them and the terrible culture that he has never changed only made worse.”

A second user wrote, “Worlds worst owner wants zero accountability. Makes sense.”

A third user thought, “So Woody Johnson gets an F from his own players… calls the report totally bogus… and suddenly the report cards disappear? That timing is definitely interesting”.

Another added, “This f*cking guy. No wonder the Jets organization is trashy.”

A fifth commented, “Aka Woody Johnson penny pinching the jets and mad his shit organization is getting shown to the fans who spend millions supporting them”.

A sixth said, “Has he ever thought about being better?”

Woody Johnson will have to take his job as owner seriously if he wishes to see the Jets become competitive ahead of next season.
