The Ohio State Buckeyes did not have star wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate play in the game last week against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights because of injuries. It didn’t matter because Ohio State cruised to victory.

With that being said, this week is a different animal for the Buckeyes because they face the Michigan Wolverines on the road. They have lost four straight games against Michigan. Ohio State hopes to have both of those wide receivers available for quarterback Julian Sayin on Saturday afternoon. Head coach Ryan Day provided a major update about the injuries to those wide receivers on Tuesday.
Ohio State Buckeyes HC Ryan Day Mentions That Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate Could Play On Saturday Against the Michigan Wolverines

The Buckeyes head coach spoke to the media on Tuesday. Other than what needs to be done to beat Michigan this week, he provided some injury updates about star wide receivers Smith and Tate. Day said,
“Working really, really hard to play in the game … working really hard to get back on the field.”
It will be interesting to see who will play for them this weekend. Smith probably has a better chance to play than Tate does. Tate has missed three straight games, and Smith did not play in the second half as well against the UCLA Bruins.
If they can get one of them back that would be huge. If they can get both back, that would be enormous for the Buckeyes. Smith this season has caught 69 passes for 902 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns, along with averaging 13.1 yards per reception. As for Tate, he has caught 39 passes for 711 yards and seven touchdowns, along with averaging 18.2 yards per reception. Day is hoping to get them back, but what said he sounds potentially promising for the matchup against Michigan.
