This time, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is taking heat from his own team players. The report card is in for the latest NFL Players Association (NFLPA) and the Jets are the only team to earn an F grade for the owners, where Johnson received an F grade.
The NFLPA released their annual player report cards. The #Jets … did not grade well. They ranked 29th of 32 teams overall.
Some lines from the report:
– "Rather than addressing concerns, players believed that management responded to feedback by making conditions worse."

How the Survey Involves Woody Johnson
The survey, involving 1,695 NFL players, gauged such things as team facility, culture and management. In 2023, the Jets finished 21st overall, but a steep drop to 29th overall this year. Top-down problems in leadership reportedly led to the team culture based on fear, not support, which players said in the report.
One of the biggest criticisms in the survey was Johnson’s perceived lack of investment in team facilities, where he ranked dead last among all NFL owners. Additionally, players expressed frustration over budget cuts to the team’s food program after it received poor marks in last year’s survey. The decision not to retain the Jets’ well-regarded dietitian, who later joined the Kansas City Chiefs, also raised concerns.

Woody Johnson’s increased involvement in football operations has not helped his standing within the team. This was the first time Johnson had fired the coach and GM midseason — a move that was made to replace head coach Robert Saleh with defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. Backfiring, the Jets finished 5-12. Despite the B grade the players gave the head coach, it was still ranked 25th in the league.

Woody Johnson has acknowledged that improvement is needed, given the harsh feedback. He acknowledged during the introductory press conference for new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, “Absolutely, I have to look in the mirror, and I have to be a better owner,”.
The Jets are now in the longest active playoff drought in all men’s professional sports, the Jets were last in the postseason in the 2010 season. The results of the NFLPA survey do not bode well for Johnson. Whether Woody Johnson takes the players’ feedback seriously or not remains to be seen, but they also paint a bleak picture of the state of the franchise under his leadership.
