Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs will be entering the final year of his rookie contract with the team. He is 25 years old and there are some questions about whether or not he fits into the future plans for the Packers.

For now, the projected starting wide receivers for Green Bay will be Doubs, Matthew Golden (rookie), and Jayden Reed. However, there is a lot that could still be decided about the position in training camp. Doubs was also mentioned in trade rumors during the offseason. Will the Packers trade him before the 2025 season, or will they hang onto him?
PFF Thinks That the Green Bay Packers Could Trade Wide Receiver Romeo Doubs Before the 2025 NFL Season

Doubs has been mentioned in trade rumors ever since the Packers were eliminated from the playoffs by the Philadelphia Eagles. Well, the Packers for now have hanged onto him. Pro Football Focus writer Bradley Locker listed several different NFL players who could potentially be traded before the 2025 NFL season begins.
He thinks that the Packers could trade Doubs to a different NFL team. Locker said,
“The Packers made their home fans ecstatic when they picked Matthew Golden in the first round of this year’s draft. However, their wide receiver group is still a question mark, especially as it pertains to Doubs.
Since being taken in the fourth round in 2022, Doubs has become a solid option for Green Bay. Last season, he turned in a 71.0 PFF receiving grade with 1.62 yards per route run. However, his drop rate has sat above 9% in two of his three seasons, and health has also been an issue, with Doubs logging less than 700 snaps in two of three campaigns.
Golden figures to be Jordan Love’s WR1, especially with Christian Watson sidelined yet again. Green Bay also added rookie Savion Williams to the mix, which suggests that the team wasn’t satisfied with its receiver play from a year ago. Will the Packers finally move on from one of Doubs, Jayden Reed or Dontayvion Wicks, each of whom has shown flashes but not developed in full? The most likely would figure to be Doubs, who is effectively playing on a one-year deal in 2025.”
Doubs caught 46 passes for 601 yards receiving and four touchdowns, along with averaging 13.1 yards per reception. If Doubs were to not be a starter for Green Bay, either Wicks or Williams will be the other starting wide receiver. This would then lead the Packers to potentially trade Doubs to another team who will need wide receiver help.
Watson could potentially return from his ACL injury later in the season. He will probably start the 2025 season on the PUP list. Mecole Hardman Jr. or Malik Heath will be the sixth wide receiver on the roster. It is a deep wide receiver group full of number two’s. Golden will emerge into the number one wide receiver for Love and Reed will most likely be the second-option.
Tight end Tucker Kraft will also be heavily involved in the passing game. Doubs could be the fourth option for Love in 2025. Training camp and preseason performances will determine whether or not they will keep Doubs around for the 2025 NFL season.
