The Buccaneers had a fantastic regular season, but didn’t live up to their expectations in the playoffs. They finished the regular season with a record of 13-4 and secured the #2 seed in the NFC. They took care of the Eagles 31-15 in the Wild Card Round and hosted the Rams in the Divisional Round, where they lost 30-27. The Rams took a 20-3 into halftime and the Bucs rally came up too short. They put up a good fight, but the Rams, who went on to win the Super Bowl, were just too much for Brady and the Bucs. The Buccaneers have the 7th ranked strength of schedule this season. Therefore, they should be one of the favorites in getting that precious #1 seed in the NFC this season.
What to Expect From the Bucs Offense
The Buccaneers have one of the most electric offenses in the NFL, which all starts with Tom Brady. Brady has proved that age is just a number and showed that last season which was his best season since 2007. He threw for 5,316 yards, 43 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. I expect Brady to put up the same kind of numbers with this talented wide receiver and tight end core the Bucs have.
The Buccaneers have one of the best wide receiver cores in the NFL. They have Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and new signings Russell Gage and Julio Jones. Their talent doesn’t end there on offense either. Their tight ends include Cameron Brate and new signing, Kyle Rudolph. These two will add even more weapons for Tom Brady. Look for these wide receivers and tight ends having a monster season in the stats book.
How Will the Bucs Defense Perform this Year?
The Buccaneers had the 5th ranked defense in the 2021 season and they got even better in the offseason. They managed to land Akiem Hicks, who has been one of the best defensive ends in the league. Therefore, he will help close down those gaps that the opposing running backs will be looking for. The Bucs have one of the best linebacker cores in the NFL, which consists of Devin White, Lavonte David, and Shaquil Barrett. This trio will be a force to reckon with and will make the opposing offenses switch up their game plans. Leading the secondary for the Buccaneers is Antoine Winfield Jr. His defense in front of him will allow him to roam freely in the secondary to help out his cornerbacks in coverage. This defense should end up in the top five in rankings again this year.
How Will the Buccaneers Perform this Year?
The Buccaneers have one of the most talented squads in the NFL without a doubt. Therefore, they should have their eyes set on that #1 seed in the NFC. With the 7th easiest schedule this year, anything less than a divisional championship would be seen as a failure of a season. If they receive that #1 seed, I don’t see another team coming into Raymond James and knocking the Bucs out like the Rams did last year. I believe that loss inspired them to put in the hard work this offseason and get them back where they belong, the Super Bowl.
