The Texas Longhorns will have a lot riding on the 2025 college football season. They will have a lot of hype around the program because of quarterback Arch Manning.

Manning is going to provide a different sense of expectations for this football program. Quinn Ewers was the starting quarterback for the last two seasons for head coach Steve Sarkisian. The Longhorns could be the number one ranked team in the country entering the 2025 season. Texas also has funded a lot of money into this roster. Manning has a chance to lead this roster to its first national title in 20 years and the last quarterback to win it for them was Vince Young.
Pro Football Focus Ranks Texas Longhorns Arch Manning at 50 On Top 50 Rankings Entering 2025 College Football Season

Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick ranked there Top 50 players entering the 2025 college football season on pro football focus. There is one player that they ranked in the Top 50, but it is very questionable where he was ranked. Manning, the Longhorns starting quarterback, was ranked number 50 on the Top 50 college football players list.
Wasserman and Chadwick said about ranking Texas’s starting quarterback potentially way too low on the list,
“Manning’s spot on this list was easily the toughest to place. He’s started just three games in his career — all against lesser opponents in UTSA, Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State — yet he enters 2025 as the betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy (+700 on DraftKings Sportsbook).
Despite the limited sample size, Manning impressed in 2024 with an 88.1 PFF overall grade, ranking 13th among the FBS quarterbacks who played at least 200 snaps. He also placed 16th in both big-time throw rate (6.4%) and turnover-worthy play rate (1.9%). More athletic than either of his legendary uncles, Peyton and Eli, Manning scored four rushing touchdowns on just 21 carries, including a 67-yarder.
It’s entirely possible — even likely — that No. 50 will look far too low by season’s end. But for now, the former No. 1 overall recruit in the 2023 class lands here.”
Manning is going to be in the conversation as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft and also get into the Heisman Trophy race at some point for the Longhorns. During the 2024 season, Manning completed 67.8% of his passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also had a couple of rushing touchdowns during the 2024 season as well.
He will provide a different element to this offense for Texas. Ewers was good, but he wasn’t as mobile as Manning will be. He is much more athletic, and the hype is going to be real this year for Texas. It all begins for them in Week 1 against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
