Billy “White Shoes” Johnson ,is one step closer to being inducted into the Pro Hall of Fame, by being named a semifinalist!
Johnson ( punt returner and wide receiver), had seven successful seasons with the Houston Oilers, six with the Atlanta Falcons and one with the Washington Redskins (Commanders).
Johnson was well known for his touchdown celebration dances (aka) the “Funky Chicken”, just as much as his dazzling returns!
He is a three time Pro Bowler, and a three time first team All Pro. In 1975 he was the MVP of the Pro Bowl, because of his 90 yard touchdown punt return!
Early on in his career with the Houston Oilers, Johnson accumulated five punt returns, and two kickoffs for touchdowns, he added 12 more touchdowns as a wide receiver on offense, with 25 total touchdowns in his 14 year career.
He is on the 1970’s and 1980’s All Decade Teams, along with being a member of the NFL’s 75th & 100th Anniversary Teams.
Johnson is the only member of the NFL’s 75th Anniversary Team to not be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Could this be the year that Billy “White Shoes” Johnson dances into the Hall of Fame?
